Gutted much of house interior; started out fixing termite damage in poorly built additions at rear of house, and things just spiraled from there. Reworked upstairs layout to create new bedroom out of common area, added addition and shed dormer to rear bedroom. All new, handmade features throughout home; new walnut kitchen and cherry bath built on-site utilizing lumber milled from trees on property. All new trim throughout. New construction windows throughout (a mix of Pella, Marvin, Andersen, some used off of remodeling jobs but most new. Tore off two layers of siding, replacing with Hardieplank an Miratec trim with an effort to restore more authentic facade to house. 3/4 inch foamboard underneath, it’s all I could afford thickness-wise but the price was right off of Craigslist. Everything done to the house was on the cheap ,scrounging for materials, getting cabinet plywood from local production furniture factory cast-offs, trying to make a nice house over eight years on carpenter’s wages, torturing my poor wife and family, you know the story.
