Minnehaha Creek meanders through south Minneapolis before tumbling over a majestic 44 foot waterfall and into the Missisippi River. Just above the falls along the creek, a homeowner returned to the site of his childhood home. Rather than restore a very tired, worn and cramped 100 year old home, he elected for something more open and spirited. The Creek is visible for the home both out the front of the home and to the north as well. To maximize the views, this home for two, was flipped, bringing the living spaces of the home to the upper level and the sleeping spaces on the main. In doing so the living spaces in this compact home are afforded high vaulted ceilings and terrific views to the creek and surrounding parkland. The modern palate of materials and basic, yet familiar form, capitalize on the clean lines and minimalist approach of the architect.
