Last year, Panasonic introduced its WhisperRecessed ventilation fan, which combined an 80-cfm exhaust fan with a 6-in. can light in a single fixture. By eliminating the need for a separate fan grille, the fixture promised cleaner indoor air without sacrificing sleek design. This year, Panasonic is offering the WhisperRecessed LED (about $130), which trades the GU-24-base CFL in the original package with a 10w LED lamp. The LED bulb is adjustable for minimizing glare, uses 75% less energy than a standard incandescent, and lasts 35 times longer. The fan itself draws 20.5w and operates at 0.7 sones, a noise level equivalent to the sound of rustling leaves.
