Detailing the Wall-to-Roof Transitions
Watch how the 2020 FHB House team creates a tighter building envelope by installing roof overhangs after the WRB.
Senior editor Patrick McCombe is at the 2020 Fine Homebuilding House in Greenwich, CT, to talk with Albert Jensen-Moulten of BPC Green Builders and architect Elizabeth DiSalvo of Trillium Architects about roof transitions. Instead of applying the home’s water-resistive barrier (WRB) around the roof overhangs, the team stopped the roof trusses at the wall edges, ran the WRB right over the roof deck, and then attached a separate overhang once that was done. This made it much easier to create a tight building envelope.
