Hey Guys,
I wanted to get some opinions about a new circuit project. I’m finishing my basement and drywalling, so I would like to plan ahead. I’m thinking of running an extra 20amp circuit to my attic. The wire will be fished inside of an interior wall and up to the attic. I’m thinking of terminating (for now) inside of a standard plastic square box with wirenuts, nothing connected to the circuit as yet.
This circuit will be for a future kitchen range hood and some lights. From my math I think 20amps will cover it, but would one more be better? I don’t think I need it, but….? ( probably no need for a subpanel, the rest of house was professionally rewired and I don’t have any problems with breakers)
Anyway, I just wanted to get some tips/opinions on this project. (Thanks to this forum, my wire fishing skills have improved greatly).
Thanks as always!

Sounds like it will work OK.
Since you are going to the trouble to fish one wire through the wall to the attic; why not install a conduit chase instead?
A 1-1/2" or 2" conduit will handle a lot of potential future needs. Including the main feed to a sub-panel if you change your mind later.
I installed a 1" PVC conduit today for a customer to accomodate two Ethernet cables from his first floor to the second -- I was just finishing up when he said to me, " You know, once I replace the other 2 computers I'd like them wired to the router." Me -- no problem, just give me a call whenever you are ready.
