I am replacing a garden window with a vinyl replacement window (block window with exterior vinyl trim strips are my thought at this point). The exterior is stucco with 2×6 wood exterior trim around window (redundant). The rough opening for the window is 1″ smaller than the trim on the sides and top. This exposes the remnants of the paper flashing. I am going to put some metal flashing under the flashing paper on the top of the opening and was wondering if by sliding some flashing paper between the sides of the rough opening (where there is flashing paper-damaged from pulling out the aluminum nailing fins on sides and top) and trim will be sufficient. I am looking for a fix because I cant remove the trim .
Any thoughts would be appreciated
Thanks in Advance Willy

It's doubtful that you can get anything that will be effective behind the stucco. I'd pack out the RO so that it is appropiately sized for the new unit and trim away the raggedy paper. Slope the sill with a piece of clapboard, then pan the sill and wrap the vertical sides of the RO with Vycor or strips of I&W. Install drip cap as you described on the top edge. Healthy bead of sealant on the back of the top and sides (but not the bottom). I think that's about the best you can do without removing some stucco.
Here's a free photo editing site - http://www.picnik.com/app#/home/welcome
Smaller pictures are quicker and easier for the Taunton website to handle and easier for us BT'ers to open up.
just click on "get photo" to find the picture on your computer, click on "resize" button and enter pixel size (800 is good) for long side of pic and the other fills in automatically, finally click on "save&share" button and it puts your picture back on your computer. You can change the name to something like "top_right_corner_2_800" if you don't want your original pic to be permanently reduced in size.
