Changes to registration system

SYSOP | Posted in General Discussion on March 31, 2003 11:20am

Hello All,

Over the next couple of days, then months, we will be making some changes to our registration system. The ultimate goal will be a seamless registration with our parent site, www.taunton.com. We hope to have all of this in place by midsummer, but you will see parts of it implemented starting this week.

If you experience any problems or have questions please let me know, and as always I can be reached via email at [email protected]

    Oh no. Not more adjustments. I'm running out of new mail boxes I can open to placate the needs of the registration system.

    OK. Enough bitching. Due to the value I place on this forum I will likely do whatever I need to to keep it working for me.

    I realize that running rough shod over the unwashed masses who visit this site is a bit like herding cats. A slow, thankless and frustrating process. You have my sympathies and deep respect for your intestinal fortitude in handling some of the wildlife. I'm sure your doing your best given the situation. Take a bow.

      All too true.

    Will this help solve the Larry ORLO Martin Bobcat problem?

      Re:"Will this help solve the Larry ORLO Martin Bobcat problem?"

      That would be nice. Certainly worth any inconvenience.

      I'm surprised you haven't lodged a complaint with his ISP. Maybe you have. Spamming, if I understand correctly, is a violation of even their rules of conduct. Most reputable ISPs, this might include AOL, will cancel the account. It won't stop him for long but it might slow him down.

      1. Piffin | Apr 01, 2003 04:53am | #5

        Me? Taunton is the owner of this site. They are the ones to file the complaint. I suspect from the little correspondence I have had that hey are doing things and that legal is only one of them. Justice is a slow horse but she gets you there..

          Meant to address it to the sysop. Sorry for pulling your chain.

            Well you are...

              You know you sit in your deep basement bunker at the Huge secret Taunton FHB compound secretly trying to control the world.

            Your cover as a remodeler on an island is just a front.  Sure you make the rounds on your day job, but at night, you put on your all black spandex body suit which makes you invisable to the naked eye, make your way to taunton HQ via your speacial black op helo, slip in the door only you, andy and brian have access to and plot your take over the world and at the same time bring down your arch enemy.......View ImageGo Jayhawks

            You do understand that Piffin now must kill you.

            I didn't read CAG's post and I have no idea what he said.

            Fuel for the black ops helo has gotten way too expensive. I just shimmy down the wire at 42,667 kbs.

            It messes up my hair though more than the rotor wash.

            ;)

            But don't expect to wake up in the morning now. Your only defense is to shut down the PC tonight before you go nighty nite..

            You'd better sit off to the side of our monitor!  The right keystroke and they can blast you with radiation from your own monitor!  DUCK!  (Or buy a LCD...)  I'll bet Piffin's making a bundle off this conversation right now!It doesn't matter how fast you get there, it just matters that you go in the right direction.

          6. Piffin | Apr 01, 2003 07:13am | #14

            It's not the money, believe me!

            It's the power! Every keystroke you make works to tickle the generator an produce more amperage. My capacitors can hardly handle the flow so I sell the excess to the power company.

            ;).

      Carly Simon:

       Your So Vain

      You walked into the partyLike you were walking onto a yachtYour hat strategically dipped below one eyeYour scarf it was apricotYou had one eye in the mirrorAs you watched yourself gavotteAnd all the girls dreamed that they'd be your partnerThey'd be your partner, and

      {Refrain}You're so vainYou probably think this song is about youYou're so vainI'll bet you think this song is about youDon't you? Don't you?

      You had me several years agoWhen I was still quite naiveWell, you said that we made such a pretty pairAnd that you would never leaveBut you gave away the things you lovedAnd one of them was meI had some dreams they were clouds in my coffeeClouds in my coffee, and

      {Refrain}

      I had some dreams they were clouds in my coffeeClouds in my coffee, and

      {Refrain}

      Well, I hear you went up to SaratogaAnd your horse naturally wonThen you flew your Lear jet up to Nova ScotiaTo see the total eclipse of the sunWell, you're where you should be all the timeAnd when you're not, you're withSome underworld spy or the wife of a close friendWife of a close friend, and

      {Refrain}

      ----------------------------------------

      Who is You're So Vain about?

      In January of 1973, You're So Vain was the # 1 hit song on the radio. Carly had just married fellow pop-superstar James Taylor a month before, so when You're So Vain hit the airwaves, it stirred intense curiosity about which one of her previous lovers was the subject of this wry nod to the male ego.

      Was it Mick Jagger? Cat Stevens? Warren Beatty? Kris Kristofferson? It was common knowledge that she had been involved with each of them in the past.

      Carly has never revealed who she had in mind when she wrote You're So Vain, and almost 30 years later interviewers are still asking her this same question..... N

    Actually you cant even take credit for even that small accomplishment.

    The registration system integration between the various parts of the larger Tauton Press site has been glitchy. A registration on one site would often be disallowed as "taken" on another. I had to use multiple e-mail addresses and passwords to be able to post on all the forums. Even though I have not, so far, posted on the other forums.

    So here again you think it is all about you when, in fact, tauton has done nothing to stop you but delete your posts. This, of course, you bitch about incessantly. Who says they haven't been effective. You have yet to undelete any of it. Sure you can cut and paste under another registration but they have made you crawl on your miserable belly through pools of your own filth and shame again and again to get in.

    You cannot see how little Tauton or anyone else cares. You claim great victories while repeatedly degrading your own reputation and image. You claim honor and yet you lack the manhood to accept the rules of the forum and the punishment so rightly handed you. You attempt to besmirch others names, as if a worm could soil a man, while failing to see the defilement you cover yourself with as it were your favorite raiment.
