this post is not meant to discredit code enforcement at all……. in my area , I have not seen one inspector last more than 3 years. I was wondering why?Politics?Pay?Bad Gc’s? . In 10 years only 2 have stayed for any long period of time. Just curious if you as a trade or inspector can shed some insight.

If inspectors are only lasting a short time, then there are probably lots of reasons. Low pay, and non-existent raises might be one. Poor hiring practices probably too. And certainly politics (of many varieties) will play a role too.
And it makes sense to me that some who find themselves in inspectors positions probably don't belong there. Think of it -- this person needs to have all the knowledge of a general contractor, but must want to be a cop instead. All the knowledge of a GC, and not want to make that kind of money. Make a pain in the #ss of yourself, telling others how wrong they've done it.
Doesn't sound like any kind of fun to me.
