What are some strategies for installing rain gutters on un-level eaves? We have an 1820 colonial farm house that has settled over the years resulting in an eave that sags in the middle. As soon as you run a string line horizontally along its length, your eye immediately notices just how crooked and un-level the roof’s drip edge is. The wall below the drip edge is also out of plumb. Rain runs off the roof and tends to then run down the clapboards rotting them. The home is a plank house and is so sturdy it just continues to settle rather than collapse all together! Guttering would help alleviate this issue, but looks really off from the street because the eave and guttering are so out of parallel. Short of rebuilding the roof, does anyone have a suggestion?

Other than putting a single, 3 x 4 downspout in the center at the low spot, not much you can do. Hopefully you can miss windows and doors. Won't look ideal, but will at least turn water.
