Old Boots Learn New Tricks
These laceless work boots are easy to adjust and effortless to take off.

I’ve worn out many pairs of the same brand of work boots over the last 20 years. But when my son showed me his new pair of Wolverines, I knew I had to try them. It wasn’t the brand name that intrigued me, although Wolverine has been making boots for over 140 years. It was the BOA laces that piqued my interest.
The BOA Fit System replaces traditional laces with a dial system that was originally designed for snowboard boots. You simply slide your foot in and twist the dial until your boots are tight. At first I was a little concerned that they would not open wide enough to easily slide in my size-13 feet, but that was not the case.
They are easier to put on than my old boots and are preposterously effortless to take off. You just pull the dial out and the laces come loose. Besides eliminating the tedious process of tying laces, I love the fact that I can adjust the tightness of my boots on the fly in seconds.
Besides the BOA system, the HyperRest memory foam insoles have been super comfortable, and overall, the boots seem to be wearing nicely. The Wolverine Vantage Boots I have cost $230 at wolverine.com and are only available with a composite toe.
