I’ll take a stab at it…
I eagerly await your responses! (except, of course, those of you who want to tell me I should rip it out, rebuild the roof, install exterior insulation, foam in the entire air cavity, use SIPs, tear the house down…..)
since you suggested the real life solution yurself…. have at it…
The location is the finger lakes area of New York
just curious… which lake???
Should I caulk the edges were I can’t insert the tip of the foam dispenser?
get a couple three feet of that cheap plastic tubing (looks milky) to fit the the dispenser… either to fit over it’s tube or to replace it all together… problem of placement solved and you can skip the caulk…
I’ve installed 2″ TUFF-R rigid foam, foil both sides, with airspace above and below.
is that top and bottom (ends) or front and back (LS and roof)???
you can get rid of one of the airspaces.. I suggest both by filling the rest of the bay’s cavity…
what is the minimum thickness worth applying to break up thermal bridging through the rafters?
1/2″ is okay… 3/4 is way more gooder… doubt if there is any point to go 1″…. then again there is thing called overkill that we all so dearly love here…
is it worth applying a full surface of thin insulation under the drywall vs a strip on the rafter’s edge?
yup and then some…. and you do away with a condensation accumlating air gap…
one more thing… if yur other like post hasn’t any replies… kill it… having two threads the same makes it difficult to reply to the same set of Q’s twice…
