Installing Timbertech Rail on 45s
I have the foundation complete on my deck and will attach the rail post prior to laying the decking. My deck have several 45 degree corners and this is causing me some confusion. So I have the following questions.
Do I mount all rail post square to the house or do I put the ones on the corners on the 45 on a 45? Split the difference and put them on a 22 to the house?
Lets say I put them square to the house…. My next problem is the way Timbertech rail is attached is the top and bottom rail is basically attached to a baluster that is screwed to the post. Well if the rail is running on a 45, I don’t see how I can mount the first baluster square on the post. I would think I would have to rip a 45 along it so it will sit at the same angle as the other balusters.
Next: If the top rail is cut to a 45 and mounted to the face of the post, I believe the 45 degree surface space will be larger than my 3.5 post. I would normally just cut off the triangle that extends, but the TT product is hollow.
Any suggestion?

One more detail to add. After the 45 I'm not running a long distance only 5 feet or so.
Imagine a square deck with the corners cut off. That's why I was going to put all the post square to the house.

That is one of the shortcomings of the Timbertech railing system. I would either use a 6 x 6 post or use two posts in each corner. Set one post square to the house the other post at a 45 to the house with a 4" space in between.
I just did one last week. I set them all square to the house. Just be very precise on your miters and they will fit the post sleeves. At least the 5" radiance rails. I just did a write up on the xlm here
