I’m in the middle of plumbing the supply for a new bathroom remodel and thought it might be nice to have instant hot water, using a hw recirc loop. I don’t want to use a pump, since the lav is a pedestal and you’d see the pump, so I want to use a gravity fed recirc system. Anybody ever installed one? If so, how? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Why couldn't you put the pump near the water heater?
Gravity fed can be somewhat effective if the run to the fixture is almost entirely vertical (i.e. the WH is directly below the bathroom). If you're using a pump it's typically located on or very near the water heater (a lot of plumbers will remove the drain cock from the water heater and use the pump to return the recirculated water there).
