*Try MS Project. Not that hard with plenty of support verbal and written and easily adaptable for construction and remodeling. Good luck
*Surprised I never hear any mention of Fast Track Schedule. Although I don't use it often...once per job...I found it to be the easiest out-of-the-box program to use that I have encountered. I was productive after about an hour. It's capable of doing some very fancy stuff, but you can be up and running with a basic bar chart in short order. It has sample charts for several basic jobs, including house building.
