Got myself in a spot I hate to be in today…. forced to make a major purchase on the spot without any research.
Thought I had my Honda generator fixed right. Nope. Started a new frame today that was about 1 hour out of my normal working area. Generator quit working by 9:30….had to get one. Planned on getting a new one soon anyway, but thought I could squeak this frame out of her. No dice.
Long story short, it’s Labor Day. Nobody’s open. Went to Home Depot and looked at the junk they had in the aisle. All Generac and Coleman types with Briggs and Stratten engines. Maybe it’s just me, but I never had good luck with those brands. A 5000W generator for $500 just doesn’t sound right to me. Old boss used to buy one every 6 months or so… I’m not interested in a disposable generator.
So I wandered into the rental department. They had some real looking generators in there. The rental guy told me he could sell me one of the rentals for a real good price. I looked it over and it was spotless…even the air filter looked brand new. He told me it was new in the spring and had only gone out a half a dozen times. Really looked clean.
So I bought what I was told was a $2000+ Wacker 6500W generator with an 11HP Honda engine for $1100.
What’s the verdict on these generators? I Googled them and they only seem to be available at industrial supply type places. I take that as a good sign, but I couldn’t find any current pricing…all the places said to call for pricing. Is 2G’s the right ball park for a new one? I figured anything worth putting a Honda motor on has a good chance at not being junk.

I don't know about the price but I do know they're fine generators. You did good.
Who Dares Wins.
Good to hear.
Hey! Nice shirt!
Used the 11 hp model this spring for 40+ days. You did real good on that deal. Just change the oil & filters often. I add the Slick 50 oil additive to most of the equipment we own, I think the stuff works. I got a POS power washer that was used & on it's last leg. Put the Slick 50 into it 2 years ago & I swear it runs better!
Wacker also makes a real fine Jumping Jack for dirt work! Got a 2 stroke thats 8 yrs old. Has never let us down.
Thanks for the good news
