Church Hill Landscapes
Surprisingly, this photo shoot was completely done by 8:00 in the morning. I scouted the house and yard the day before, and shopped for styling props to add some activity in the grilling area. I ended up arriving before sunrise to photograph the house, knowing that the midday light would be too strong and create too much contrast. Careful to avoid waking the family who lived there, I added props and made sure all the cushions and chairs were styled the night before. The sun rose over the backyard, illuminating the bluestone patio and outdoor kitchen area surrounding the preexisting pool. Originally, the homeowners had been concerned about the new additions blocking light to the interior of the house, so the designers decided to use a translucent polycarbonate roof over the grilling area. In this shot, I was able to capture the sun shining through this roofing, peeking over the trees and slowly hitting the tips of the leaves. It’s an exciting, yet short lived time of day, and I was able to capture just a few more shots before the light and shadows started falling in on the space.

interesting, but where is the blocking at the rafters, is there something I'm not seeing here?
