Builder: Red House Building
This is one of those photos that stays vivid in my mind. I shot it last September on one of the most beautiful days of the fall season. I was struggling with lining up a “straight on” shot to show off the stone work, fireplace and outdoor surroundings. The light was blocked by the trees, but the diffused, even light seemed to give the right feel for the outdoor room. As I was about to take the photo, a soft, orange glowing stream of light hit the floor and I took one image. I got one more bracketed shot and then the light was gone. I got the right exposure and thanks to my wonderful editor, we created together an image with the perfect light, detail in the trees and a roaring fire. I can still feel like I am standing in the space on that gorgeous day last fall.
