I hate installing fiberglass insulation, especially overhead. Faced with this task, I reach for the forklike tool shown in the drawings below.
Made of 2x2s screwed and glued at their intersection and a couple of long finish nails, this simple assembly allows me to spear unfaced fiberglass batts at floor level and hoist them into position between floor joists. I made a bigger version for insulating 12-ft.-tall ceilings and tall walls.
