You never know what you will discover on a photo shoot.Many years ago I was assigned by a preservation magazine to photograph a house that was up for auction because there were no more descendants to inherit the property. All the furniture and belongings were included in the sale. After shooting there most of the day, I finally went up to the attic and was amazed to find these steamer trunks and packing materials, all in perfect order. I opened one of the trunks and discovered that it was full of carefully folded clothing, neatly stored with a sheet of tissue paper on top and one small mothball carefully placed in the center. All the trunks were full and packed in the same meticulous way. I felt the way Howard Carter must have felt when he entered Tutankhamun’s tomb. And I was reminded of King Solomon’s words from the book of Ecclesiastes: “So my heart began to despair over all my toilsome labor under the sun. For a person may labor with wisdom, knowledge and skill, and then they must leave all they own to another who has not toiled for it. This too is meaningless and a great misfortune”…
