Ridgid has announced a new gas-powered compressor that is ideal for framers and roofers, focuses on convenience and features a wheelbarrow-style cart and a removable tank. The main wheels are 10-in. tall and have a flat-free design. The removable tank is designed to work as a stand alone or stay connected to the compressor via a standard air hose. And, it’s gas-powered, so there’s no need to run power to it.
Ridgid states the compressor has a “zero gravity” design for better balance and easier transport. The integrated side rails are designed to make it easy to lift out of a truck without having drag it and scratch the tailgate, and the main handle folds down to allow the compressor to fit under most truck bed covers. It weighs in at 173 lb.
While there is clearly a focus on convenience, this compressor delivers impressive performance. The gas engine is stated to deliver 5.7 hp and has one gallon fuel tank. Maximum pressure is 150 psi. At 90 psi, the compressor delivers 10.2 scfm. As a conservative estimate, the Ridgid compressor should easily keep up four workers.
