Architect John Gillespie designed this elegant stairway as a central component of the shingle style house he crafted for his clients in a coastal Maine community. Classical columns line the hallway from which one accesses the stairway, while the stacked square windows give a lovely view of the harbor as one ascends the stairs. From the hallway, the eye travels upward to the light, giving a sense of space and openness to the upstairs. Niches between the columns provide space to display artwork.
