Top Seal
Sealing the top plate to the wall sheathing transitions the air-control layer from the wall to the ceiling
Zip System sheathing is our air-control layer on the exterior of the house. With all the joints sealed with Zip Tape and the windows and doors to be flashed back to the wall sheathing, the last step in sealing the walls is to transition to the second-floor ceiling plane. We’re doing this by sealing the exterior edge of the top plate of the wall to the Zip sheathing using TiteBond GREENchoice acoustical sealant. A heavy bead of sealant is run along the top plate before the sheathing is placed on the wall.
