Window-Flashing Demos on the Prove It Tour Stage: Zip System™ Liquid Flash
In the second of two live demos, Fine Homebuilding partnered with ZIP SystemTM Building Enclosures to host Shop Class LIVE at the NAHB International Builders' Show in Las Vegas.
Builders and Fine Homebuilding contributors Ben Bogie and Jake Bruton host two live how-to demos installing and flashing one nail-fin window using Zip System™ Flashing Tape and another using Zip System™ Liquid Flash–both in a mock wall covered in Zip System® sheathing. These videos were recorded live on the Huber Engineered Woods Prove It Tour stage at the Las Vegas Convention Center.
In the second of two videos (above), Ben and Jake discuss how to use Zip System™ Liquid Flash and its best practices for a weathertight window installation.
The two skilled carpenters demonstrate their personal approach to flashing windows over sheathing with a built-in WRB, sharing techniques that complement those provided in the manufacturer’s instructions. Ben and Jake complemented their demonstration with detailed answers to questions from the audience.
Justin Fink, Editorial Director of Fine Homebuilding explains the draw behind doing live, interactive, how-to-style demos right on the show floor: “You can learn a lot via social media and YouTube videos, but there’s still nothing like watching a live demo and having a chance to ask questions and actually talk to the presenters. That’s why we’re thrilled to be able to partner with Huber to bring such an important series of building best practices to life for such a large audience.”
Jake Bruton, Fine Homebuilding brand ambassador and one of the hosts of the LIVE demos adds: “Water management is arguably the most important part for us builders to get right, but many are still struggling with the details, especially on more complicated projects. I’m really looking forward to bringing these best practices to life for a live audience, and one that includes faces that might not be using social media for learning.”
