OK, I’m building a deck and have a question about how to fasten the decking next to the sunroom wall that runs perpendicular to the decking. I’ve attached a drawing (obviously not to scale) showing the direction of the joists, the ledger against the main part of the house, and a joist that is directly attached (like a ledger) to the sunroom that comes off the main house. I’ve installed a typical aluminum deck flashing on top of that joist (as well as on top of the ledger, of course), so I do not want to screw through the ends of the decking into the flashing. What do I do? Do I add a nailer right on to that joist? Do I hang another joist a few inches away from the sunroom? Do I need to fasten the ends of the decking to that last joist at all? If it matters (and it probably does) the decking is 5/4 x 6 ipe.
Thanks for any suggestions.

Mike, you don't have to screw into the ledger. You will have siding covering part of it and I recommend a gap between the deck and siding, 1/2". You should be able to get a couple of screws in the joists and miss the butt joint, even if you have to angle back a little. A screw in the flashing lip isn't too much to worry about, as long as the screw stays there. It's the joint between the ledger and house that wants to stay dry. Avoid any penetrations at the bend of the flashing. You want to be in about 3/4" from the edge of the deck boards but 1 1/4" on that last/first board is fine.
Beat it to fit / Paint it to match
