I’m trimming out windows and doors, using 3 1/2″ fluted casing on the sides, butted into a pediment on the top. One of the windows(46″ x 60″) has a trapezoid window(46″ x 31″) above it, with an 8″ space between the two, I’m looking for some ideas on how to trim between the two. Should the side casing go all the way from the bottom window to the top window, or start/stop between them ? Anyone have a photo of a similar job they did ?

You could fabricate some type of block to interrupt the vertical casing between windows, and allow a landing place for a horizontal trim. Sort of a corner block, but not at the corner....
edit... here's an example of blocked casing on a door. You can imagine that if there were a transom above you could simply extend the vertical casing from the tops of the blocks

Or you could make your casing wide enough to bridge the two windows and use a large rosette, like this
