every couple of months I have to take the table off my LS1211 and grease the contact area that it turns on, its a real hassle because you then have to re-square the fence with the blade. Does anybody know what kind of grease would last the longest?

Allen, grease tends to pick up all sorts of stray stuff like sawdust, dirt, sand, metal shavings and that is probably what binds your table. Thoroughly clean your machine and apply a coating of dry lube. Graphite in a spray can applied through the plastic straw. A little air for cleanup now and then and a reapplication of spray, without disassembly, should do it.

*Ralph, thanks for the tip, that does make sense to me. Shooting in a little grapite would definitely bet the dissasembly route. thanks again, Allen
*Allen:We have had problems with sticky tables on a few types of Makita mitre saws. The part that the table bears on are thin metal arched strips (what Makita calls shims) came loose. After the service center was able to secure them with a contact-type cement they worked well. We try to blast the saws with air at the end of the day and this seems to be good maintainance. If you have to take it apart again you might check to see if the shims are loose. Wet lube is definitely bad,the dry lube idea does sound good I think I will give it a try.
