Hi everyone.
I’ve got a job to replace some wood siding on a gable end. I’ll be on top of another roof (about a 4 in 12 pitch) while I’m replacing the siding and it’s slate. The slate isn’t ancient, likely only 30 years, but I’m still a little concerned with damaging the slate while working on it.
Another carpenter and I’ve been thinking of using chicken ladders and/or various other set ups to make the work safe, but what we’re *really* worried about is damaging the slate below. We were thinking of rigging up something like a sheet of plywood with perhaps some carpet padding underneath it, with ladder or something on top.
Does anybody have any suggestions of a set up that would both protect the slate and our butts? Any pics would be appreciated as well!
Thanks.
Tim
