Our Andersen dealer incorrectly provided windows with fixed interior and exterior grilles of a different dimension from the existing windows (new are 3/4, existing grilles are noticeably wider). Does anyone have any advice on attempting to remove and replace the “fixed” grilles? Our contractor unfortunately accepted and installed the windows before we could inspect them. We realize we might just have to live with this. Thanks for any help.

Greetings 80fj40,
This post, in response to your question, will bump the thread through the 'recent discussion' listing again.
Perhaps it will catch someones attention that can help you with advice.
Cheers
Can you just order new sash & swap out the sash with the incorrect muntins? Seems like Anderson (or the contractor) should make good on the units, whether they've already been installed or not.
That is right. getting the correct sashes will be no problem. The cost is the problem. Somebody will be paying for it.

Yeah, I know piffin, but it doesn't seem fair that the homeowner's stuck with it (unless she agreed to the order).
We're a Marvin installer, & I've never had a problem with Marvin correcting a screw-up that they were responsible for. Guess the question is who okayed the order, & did the delivery reflect what was ordered?
I was not pointing at anyone specific, because I don't know how the order went in , was accepted, and delivered.

I understand. Didn't assume you were.
Thanks, I have posted long explanation at bottom of list. Regards
thanks very much. I have posted long explanation at end. Regards.
Those grilles come off. They are applied with double face tape.
Call Andersen explain the situation their service providers are trained in removing and reinstalling them. Slight chance the glass may break but it really is no big deal.
Edit to make clear: call Andersen direct not the dealer.

thanks for info. seems Andersen has had spotty success with removal. Even if removed, apparently cost of new grilles is equivalent to new sashes. I would have to say that it is dealer's fault for doing a bad order and not matching what we have to what we ordered/received, contractor's fault for not checking order and not checking what was delivered to site, and our fault for trusting both and not either becoming familiar with andersen codes (for order) or measuring/comparing units pre-install. I think we are going to live with them for now.
