Like many other contractors, I love my 8-in. Makita tablesaw. I’ve had it for more than 20 years. But one aspect of this saw has always been frustrating to me: Raising and lowering the blade with the knurled depth-adjustment knob takes a long time.
As shown in the drawing, I solved the problem by drilling a 1/4-in.-dia. hole in the center of the knob, filling the hole with epoxy, and tapping in a Phillips-head screw bit. With my cordless drill set at low speed, it’s now a snap to raise and lower the blade.
