We’ve all seen screw extractors, but what about damaged bolts that won’t budge. Our first instinct might be to grab some locking pliers–if there’s room to work with pliers. Irwin has a tool that brings the general concept behind screw extractors to bolts. The Bolt-Grip is part of Irwin‘s Impact Performance Series and is designed to typically be used with impact drills and socket wrenches.
The reverse spiral flutes are designed to grip the head of rusted or badly rounded bolts, and the tool is made out of high carbon steel for durability. Each Bolt-Grip is labeled clearly and available in a variety of sizes ranging from 1/4 in./6 mm to 1 in. Most of the Bolt-Grips feature a 3/8-in square drive, but the larger sizes designed to remove bolts 3/4 in./19 mm up 1 in. use a 1/2-in. square drive.
Irwin includes square drive-to-1/4-in. hex drive adapters, which makes the tool easy to use in impact drivers.
