Architect Christopher Campbell designed this dramatic, one of a kind house for his parents in the woods of Maine. Two separated “cabins” are connected by a glass and steel bridge containing the dining room. One cabin serves as the bedroom and kitchen area and the other contains a large library and living room. The dining room, a sun soaked space illuminated by floor to ceiling windows is stunning and features a large dining table and custom made chairs that can flip over to become rockers, all designed by Campbell himself. The house was designed to have low impact on the site, and very few trees were taken down during construction. The connecting bridge straddles a small stream that flows down to the lake which is visible from the green roof. A very imaginative and creative house!
