I just read Pedro the mules posts in the cold remedies thread and he mentions:
“Now I’ve added the dreaded sciatica but have that under reasonable control with stretching and an inversion table.”
After reading previous posts from Pedro and others in a different thread about back pain/sciatica and positive results from inversion tables I bought one off craigs list (last week) to try and calm down some sciatica.
My two kids 5 and 8 yrs old love it but at 180lbs I have a hard time hanging upside down for more than 2 or 3 minutes. Even worse I find I get mild nausea when I use it. It seems a little better if I tilt back as quickly and smoothly as possible to a fully hanging position.
How do any of you deal with the pressure on your ankles? Ever have any issues with Nausea?
I am close to trying to resell the thing on Craigslist as I am not finding that much improvement in the sciatica correlated to using it and it almost seems like in this case the cure is worse than the ailment. ie my back and butt hurt from the sciatica and all the inversion table is adding is ankle torture and nausea/motion sickness feeling.
FWIW it is a teeter model 7000 and it has some ankle boots to hook yourself on to it.

Tilt table may just NOT be for you and your head/inner ears.
Ever try hanging from arms on a chinup bar? Just let your body hang. Gravity helps stretch the spine and lower back.

My brother in law has had one for a couple of years now. He says that you need to start out on just a mild slope of 5-10 degrees and work your way up (or down). FWIW, he loves it. I tried it once at about 25 degrees and thought my head was going to explode.
