   I bought the Fein Multimaster after I saw one cut the cast off of my wrist.
   Long time ago!

   Real long time ago. Well over 20 yrs.

   Still have it, still use it . Even the case it came in isn’t all busted up.

   Fine finish, grout, rough frame/demo.

   That enough?

   I have had a Fein tool for about 8 years. It is an excellent tool, very high quality and worth the price. Comes with an extra long power cord and variable speed control.
   Came with a carrying duffel too.

   My first one was a cheap one from Harbor Freight years and years ago. It did the job but shook bad and got extremely hot. Not something you use on a regular basis but few things take it's place. Now it's the 20 volt Dewalt and don't have to find a place to plug it in or drag an extension cord around. Works great! Have not tried it on a cast yet.

   On the initial cast cutting, to calm my concern the aide laid the (running)blade on his palm…..

   Said no problem unless you “pinch” the skin with it running…..

   Never tried it.

   My first oscillating multi-tool was a corded Dremel that was given to me as a Christmas present a number of years ago.

   You definitely want a cordless multi-tool! I have a Milwaukee M18 which has plenty of power for numerous tasks, but the primary reason I have a Milwaukee is that I have a bunch of Milwaukee M18 tools and have a number of batteries.

   If you're already invested in a particular cordless tool platform, buy that brand's multi-tool. Any of the major brands, have decent multi-tools. If you just want to have a multi-tool in your tool arsenal, and don't care if it's corded, go to Harbor Freight and buy a Bauer for $49.99.

   Agreed.

   I started with an HF multi-tool, even before they had the Bauer brand. Used it a lot, didn't wear it out, but found it so useful I jumped at the chance to augment my cordless Makita arsenal.

   If you get a Makita, watch out for the lever that locks the blade in place- it will snap your finger HARD!. The Makita design is aged and a bit klunky. I've used and like the DeWalt. If you're rich or European, go for the Festool or Fein.

   I have the corded Makita multi tool. It's excellent. When it's the tool you need, nothing else will do. Get an assortment of blades.

   I'm a biomedical equipment technician by training. The original ocillating tool is a cast saw / bone saw made by the Stryker Medical Company of Kalamazoo, Mi. Dr. Homer Stryker patented the design in 1947. The design really hasen't changed much since then. The blade won't cut your skin due to the skin's natural elasticy and the very short stroke of the ocillating blade.

   I'd be lost without my Fein multi-tool. It has gotten me out of many difficult situations and made the quality of my work better.

   I'm mostly Makita, but the Dewalt OMT has a much better feel and control than the Makita, or any of the other ones I've tried.
