I’m writing a book about old house construction techniques and mechanical systems and I’ve found many books on many topics but I can’t find any information about the trade of plastering and installing lath – dating back to the 1930’s, 1940’s or earlier.
Does anyone know of an old craftsmen I could interview and get some anecdotes as well as practical information about how this work was done?
I’d hate to see the last of this interesting and historical information pass away with the last of the craftsmen.
Thanks for any help you can give.
And if anyone can recommend any books on this topic – I’m all ears.
Thanks again.

Rose - If you're lookin' for crotchety old carpenters, you came to the right place. You might have better luck findin' an old plasterer at

Jim - Thank you *so* much for this site info. I'd heard of this site but then, promptly forgot it 4 seconds after visiting it. Thank you for the good advice.
