In a small shop, every square foot is precious space, and keeping the place tidy is especially important. Here’s a suggestion that can help on both counts. When I need to sweep up sawdust, I fold down a recycled basketball hoop that I affixed to the wall. The hoop is mounted 35 in above the floor on a hinge that allows it to be stored flush against the wall. A clip at the top keeps it there. When I need to sweep up, I use some spring clamps to hold a plastic trash bag in place. The weight of the contents rests on the floor, so I’m not worried about the bag pulling free of the clamps as the weight of the bag’s contents increases.
