I bought two rubber corks at the hardware store and turned the cardboard tube that holds my stringline into a storage pod. No more searching for the level when I need it.

I use a "sports drink" bottle. The wide mouth easily takes the level, the concave bottle shape centres the string. Being thicker, it wins up faster, and a secure the end of the string by putting it inside the bottle before putting onthe screw cap.
Dangit, where did I put those corks?!
