If you have problems keeping tools organized in the larger pouches of tool belts that lack smaller dividers and pockets for your tools, put a block of rigid-foam board in the pouch. I prefer XPS, such as Styrofoam, for this. It’s easy to cut, but tough enough to hold up over time. I carve niches and holes in it for various tools, as shown in the drawing above. The blocks hold the pouch open, keep tools in place, and prevent sharp tools from jabbing me or making holes in the pouch. This trick works in tool totes, too.
